MSI GT70 One Of The List Of Best Laptop for Gaming

MSI GT70 One Of The List Of Best Laptop for Gaming

GT70 gaming rig is one of the first notebooks to debut with a fourth-generation, quad-core Intel Haswell CPU. It's also rocking a Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M chip, which was recently declared the world's fastest notebook GPU. This new tag team is a force to be reckoned with, offering stronger graphics and overall performance with longer battery life. weighing in at 8.6 pounds spread over a 16.85 x 11.34 x 2.16-inch frame

The GT70 sports an Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M GPU with 4GB of VRAM, the most powerful from the company's new GeForce 700M Series GPU line. The notebook also has Intel's latest GPU, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 chip

The GT70 with  Intel Core i7-3610QM clocked at 2.3GHz (3.3GHz with Turbo Boost). NVIDIA takes up the brawn to the rig's brain with a GeForce GTX 670M and its 3GB of dedicated video memory. We couldn't help but try and push the rig to its limit. Games with "very high" settings simply weren't enough; we had to single out titles that went "ultra." Maxing out the video settings in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimand Battlefield 3 snagged us average frame rates of 38 and 25 at the screens native 1920 x 1080 resolution, respectively.
The fields of Tamriel's frozen north were certainly playable, but we had to scale back a few settings to keep our modern soldier on the front lines. Similarly, Grand Theft Auto IV and Crysis (you just gotta test Crysis) lingered below 30 fps unless compromises were made. Source games like Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2, on the other hand, blazed at their maximum settings, pushing 90 fps in Aperture's testing labs and 60 while defending the stronghold -- both easily breaking the three digit barrier with minor tweaks.

When we ran the 3DMark11 benchmark, the GT70 posted a massive score of 7,352. That's 3,118 points higher than the 4,234 desktop replacement average. The Alienware M17x R4 and its Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M GPU scored 6,158. The Toshiba Qosmio's X875 Nvidia GeForce GTX 670M GPU notched 2,984.

Battery life is quite impressive for this type of machine, clocking 4hr.14min  on our Verge Battery test — though like most every other machine in this roundup, it needs to be plugged in to take full advantage of its dedicated graphics. This configuration includes a pair of 64GB SSDs in RAID 0 alongside a 750GB hard drive, and the GT70 boots in about 26 seconds and wakes in 1.8 seconds.

The GT70's design is bulky and awkward, and the screen leaves much to be desired. However, the battery life is impressive, rivaling the considerably less powerful Lenovo IdeaPad Y580,

and you can customize the backlit keyboard to your heart’s content. Ultimately though, you can get a better gaming machine for less from other manufacturers.

Why Asus G75VW is Ranked in Best Laptop for Gaming

Why Asus G75VW is Ranked in Best Laptop for Gaming

The Asus G75VW gaming laptop’s wedge design is elegant — I liked it so much I bought the G74SX model, and the newer one's even better — measuring slightly less than an inch at the front and about two inches at its thickest point. The plastic lid is coated with a black soft touch rubber, and silver accents along the sides make the computer appear far slimmer than it actually is. Its most striking feature is the 17.3in screen, which has 1920 x 1080 resolution and a non-reflective matt finish. It’s also the best screen in this group, and benefits from nVidia’s Lightboost technology to increases its brightness and widen viewing angles.
Gaming performance is good too, although not quite up there with the equally expensive Alienware M17x. This particular model is primarily sold through Amazon in the UK, for about £1700, and includes a quad-core Intel Core i7 running at 2.3GHz, 8GB of memory, two separate 1TB hard disks and an nVidia GeForce GTX670M graphics processor.

The graphics processor is also more of a mid-level component – it performs well, but doesn’t match the power of the Radeon 7970M used by Alienware and Chillblast. It does manage a respectable 33fps when running Batman: Arkham City at 1920 x 1080 with DirectX 11 and high graphics settings, but that’s still well short of the scores produced by the less expensive models from Chillblast and Schenker. Switching into stereoscopic 3D mode also affects performance, reducing frame rates by about 30% in our tests, so you may have to drop down to a 1280 x 720 display if you want to goggle at your gaming in 3D.

Battery life is a short 2 hours 20 mins with the GeForce card, although there’s a clickable icon on-screen that allows you to switch to the integrated graphics on the fly to preserve battery life. It does run warmer than some of its rivals, pumping a steady stream of warm air out through the large vents at the back of the chassis. It never became uncomfortably warm, but you’ll need to keep the back of the laptop clear in order to ensure good ventilation.
The G75VW is a very fine piece of engineering, something that any power user would be proud to wield. We'd prefer the stereoscopic 3D to be dumped for switchable graphics, and more attention put on audio, the G75VW is still a sturdy, attractive gaming machine that can definitely push out some impressive performance.
